OUR STANDARDS AND SAFETY MEASURES

AMVER Award from the US Coast Guard

Reflecting the high standards and commitment to safety and standards, HMB received for the third year running the coveted Automated Mutual Assitance Rescue Programme (AMVER) Award from the United States Coast Guard for its vessels entering the US waters.

As a company that offers integrated services to its clients and customers, locally and abroad, we have taken all necessary action to comply with the requirement of the International Ship Management Code, which became mandatory in July 1998. Our ships were fully audited and certified to the international standards in the ISM Code well ahead of the deadline.

All our vessels also complied with the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) well ahead of the deadline on February 1, 1999. The GMDSS requires ships registered in MAlaysia to be adequately equipped with transmission facilities to locate and assist ships in distress.

HMB was the first shipping company to be accorded the ISO 9002 certification for vessels for safe sea transportation of petroleum products in Malaysia. HMB is also proud to have continuously won Shell's prestigious 'Best Ship' award since 1994 for safe ship management in South East Asia as well as ranked top of the list among shipmanagers  managing vessels for NYK Line.
